Cosmic Interference Patterns (TEST-07)
Derivation PendingStatus: This prediction (TEST-07) is listed as Tier-1 in the test catalog and cited as potentially the most novel claim in the framework. However, the derivation of the ~500 Mpc scale does not yet exist on this site. This page is a placeholder. A research proposal has been filed to derive the scale from first principles.
The Prediction
Synchronism predicts that galaxy cluster separations show oscillatory modulation at a characteristic wavelength of approximately λ ~ 500 Mpc. The kill criterion is: no oscillatory signal above 3σ detected out to 2000 Mpc in existing survey data (SDSS, DES, DESI).
Why This Would Be Interesting
The Baryon Acoustic Oscillation (BAO) scale is ~150 Mpc — a well-understood feature from the sound horizon at recombination. A signal at ~500 Mpc would not have a known cosmological origin. It would be either (a) an unmodeled systematic, (b) a non-linear coupling not yet identified, or (c) genuinely new physics. This is what makes the prediction potentially valuable: it is distinct from BAO, not a harmonic of it, and not predicted by standard ΛCDM.
What Is Missing
The 500 Mpc scale currently lacks a derivation from the framework's parameters. Without it, this is not a prediction in the scientific sense — it is an exploratory hypothesis (a wavelength somewhere in the cluster regime). To become a sharp falsifier, the scale must be derived from coherence dynamics, with stated uncertainty.
The current test design is asymmetric: any oscillatory signal at ~500 Mpc would support the prediction, but only a null result across the full 2000 Mpc range kills it. A derived scale would make the test symmetric: the predicted amplitude and wavelength both become falsifiable targets, not just the presence/absence of any signal.
Open Questions for Explorer Track
- Does the Synchronism coherence function have a natural large-scale oscillation length? Can it be derived from ρcrit, γ, H₀, or c?
- What is the cosmological MRH (Markov Relevancy Horizon) for a galaxy cluster, and does it set a ~500 Mpc correlation scale?
- Does applying the Jeans-criterion derivation of ρcrit at the cluster scale (σcluster rather than Vflat) give a characteristic wavelength near 500 Mpc?
- If the scale cannot be derived, should TEST-07 be re-labeled “Exploratory” rather than “Tier-1”?
Research proposal filed 2026-04-25: “Derive the ~500 Mpc Cosmic Interference Scale” — see Synchronism research archive proposals. If the derivation succeeds, this page will be updated with the full theoretical content. If it fails, TEST-07 will be re-badged accordingly.
